Dr. Alec Dierksheide is a board-qualified foot and ankle surgeon committed to delivering exceptional care to patients throughout Southwest Florida. He specializes in complex foot and ankle conditions, including sports injuries, trauma, and reconstructive procedures, with a focus on advanced surgical techniques such as arthroscopy, tendon transfers, minimally invasive bunion correction, total ankle replacement, and limb salvage.
With extensive training from nationally recognized residency and fellowship programs, Dr. Dierksheide has developed clinical expertise in forefoot and rearfoot surgery, ankle fractures, diabetic wound care, pediatric foot conditions, and nerve repair. His practice also includes the management of post-traumatic deformities and complex revisional procedures, integrating both traditional and emerging technologies in foot and ankle care.

Dr. Franco E. Vigna is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon with extensive experience treating a wide range of spinal conditions. Known for his advanced surgical expertise and compassionate patient care, Dr. Vigna specializes in the treatment of herniated discs, lumbar spinal stenosis, sciatica, degenerative disc disease, and injuries related to workers’ compensation and no-fault accidents.
As a leader in minimally invasive spine surgery, Dr. Vigna is one of the few surgeons in the country with fellowship training in both cervical and lumbar disc replacement. He completed specialized training through the prestigious Maryland Spinal Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship and the NuVasive Luiz Pimenta Fellowship, where he studied advanced spinal techniques before their widespread adoption in the United States. Today, he uses this knowledge to deliver cutting-edge care to patients from across the U.S. and Canada.
Dr. Vigna’s path to medicine began after a successful start in finance. Inspired by the medical professionals who cared for his father during a serious illness, he shifted careers to follow in the footsteps of his physician parents. He earned his medical degree and a Master of Public Health from Tulane University, later completing his orthopedic residency at SUNY Health and Science Center at Brooklyn.
Recognized as an expert in spinal surgery, Dr. Vigna has authored numerous articles in leading industry journals and presented at both national and international spine conferences. He is deeply committed to his patients and known for fostering strong, long-term relationships.
Dr. Vigna lives in Southwest Florida with his wife, Sephra, and their three children. Dr. Tom A. Hong, MD, FAAOS, is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon specializing in hand and upper extremity procedures at OrthoKagan in Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, Florida. Dr. Brett A. Sweitzer is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and complex joint reconstruction of the knee, shoulder, and hip. With over 15 years of experience in both academic and private practice settings, Dr. Sweitzer is highly regarded for his expertise in arthroscopic procedures, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and advanced joint replacement surgeries.
Dr. Sweitzer has a special focus on knee and shoulder injuries, including ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, cartilage restoration, and shoulder instability. He is among a select group of surgeons in Southwest Florida performing all-inside ACL reconstruction using quadriceps autograft, a less-invasive, high-performance option for athletes and active individuals.
In addition to surgical treatment, Dr. Sweitzer offers a full range of non-operative solutions including ultrasound- and fluoroscopic-guided injections, corticosteroids, viscosupplementation, PRP therapy, and regenerative exosome/stem cell treatments. Dr. Sweitzer joined OrthoKagan in 2022 after more than a decade on faculty at Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, where he served as Head of Sports Medicine and won multiple teaching awards. He currently serves as team physician for Fort Myers High School and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (Twins A-affiliate). He and his wife, Shannon, are proud parents of four children and enjoy staying active in the community.

Dr. David B. Sudderth is a distinguished board-certified neurologist with nearly 30 years of experience diagnosing and treating complex neurological conditions. Practicing at OrthoKagan in Southwest Florida, Dr. Sudderth has dedicated his career to the care of patients suffering from back and neck injuries, nerve disorders, migraines, and brain trauma.
As one of only a few adult neurologists in Florida certified in Brain Injury Medicine by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Sudderth brings rare expertise to the evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation of individuals affected by traumatic brain injuries. His commitment to advancing neurological care is further demonstrated by his dual diplomate status through the United Council for Neurologic Subspecialties in both Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry and Headache Medicine.
In addition to his clinical accomplishments, Dr. Sudderth is certified by the Institute of Functional Medicine, equipping him with a holistic approach to neurological health that emphasizes root-cause diagnostics and integrative therapies. He is fluent in Spanish, German, and Danish, allowing him to communicate with a diverse patient population.

Dr. Peter J. Curcione is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with extensive experience treating joint conditions, sports injuries, and degenerative disorders with precision and care. Practicing in Fort Myers and Lehigh Acres, Florida, Dr. Curcione specializes in minimally invasive joint replacement, arthroscopic ligament repair, and the comprehensive treatment of shoulder and hand disorders. His expertise is supported by decades of hands-on surgical experience and a deep understanding of the latest advances in orthopedic technology.

He went on to receive specialized training in hand surgery at Hand Surgery Associates in Detroit, pediatric orthopedics at Shriner’s Hospital in Tampa, and orthopedic traumatology at Tampa General Hospital.
