Ganglion Cysts
Ganglion cysts are commonly found on the top of the wrist or at the base of the palm and typically develop as a result of trauma or irritation to the joint capsule. These fluid-filled, balloon-like lumps contain a jelly-like substance similar to the natural fluid found within the wrist joint.
Treatment options may include aspiration, where a needle is used to remove the fluid, or surgical excision to remove the cyst entirely. While both methods can be effective, it’s important to note that recurrence is possible, especially with non-surgical treatment.
In more persistent or severe cases, our orthopedic surgeons may recommend surgical removal to provide lasting relief. To learn more about your treatment options for ganglion cysts, please contact our office at your convenience. We’re here to help.
