Carpal Tunnel Syndrome Solutions
One of the most commonly performed procedures at our office in Southwest Florida is carpal tunnel surgery. Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition caused by increased pressure on the median nerve as it passes through the wrist.
This nerve shares a narrow passageway, called the carpal tunnel with nine essential tendons that run from the forearm into the hand. When this tunnel becomes narrowed or inflamed due to repetitive motion or underlying inflammation, the resulting pressure on the median nerve can lead to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and pain. These sensations typically affect the thumb, index finger, middle finger, and part of the ring finger. In more advanced cases, symptoms can become severe enough to disrupt daily activities and even interfere with sleep, often waking patients during the night.
