About Dr. Brett A. Sweitzer, MD

Dr. Brett A. Sweitzer is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and complex joint reconstruction of the knee, shoulder, and hip. With over 15 years of experience in both academic and private practice settings, Dr. Sweitzer is highly regarded for his expertise in arthroscopic procedures, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and advanced joint replacement surgeries.

Dr. Sweitzer has a special focus on knee and shoulder injuries, including ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, cartilage restoration, and shoulder instability. He is among a select group of surgeons in Southwest Florida performing all-inside ACL reconstruction using quadriceps autograft, a less-invasive, high-performance option for athletes and active individuals.

In addition to surgical treatment, Dr. Sweitzer offers a full range of non-operative solutions including ultrasound- and fluoroscopic-guided injections, corticosteroids, viscosupplementation, PRP therapy, and regenerative exosome/stem cell treatments. His integrative approach ensures patients receive individualized care to help them return to the activities they love, whether that’s sports, work, or daily life without pain.

Dr. Sweitzer joined OrthoKagan in 2022 after more than a decade on faculty at Einstein Healthcare Network in Philadelphia, where he served as Head of Sports Medicine and won multiple teaching awards. He currently serves as team physician for Fort Myers High School and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (Twins A-affiliate). He and his wife, Shannon, are proud parents of four children and enjoy staying active in the community.
